PASTEL PARADISE

Textures , scents , colour palettes all evoke sense of nostalgia

[ABOUT]

There was no design brief for the home since the owner is a good friend of Ar. Tushar Mistry's, who knew his love for Art Deco, preference for pastels and grandeur and was a colourful personality himself. Tushar decided to bind it all together in a home that would not only meet the family's needs (since he knew them well) but also reflect the personality of his client-friend.

INITIAL  DESIGN

A 3 BHK residence on 57th floor of a high rise tower at One Avighna Lower Parel, covering area of around 2400 sq.ft located at South Mumbai.

LIVING & DINING

From the colour palette of pastels to motifs, materials and styling -- all are reflective of the Art Deco theme. Some of the eye-catching elements are the Persian carpet on the powder pink wall in the dining area, the marble in the bathrooms that was selected to complement the Kohler fittings, Onyx light fittings, the pebble shaped dining table top in Patagonia marble, use of material like burl veneer with lamination and marble throughout the home. It is interesting to note the lack of handles on the cupboards -- they are all inbuilt in the shutters.

SONS BEDROOM

The kids bedroom is adorned with dark sage green Pu Paneling with margination of veneer across patterned in flutes and moldings. The customized wooden wall lamps are all the beautiful details that captivates the attention to anyone visits the room.

MASTER  BEDROOM

The master bedroom is where the color scheme is extravagant where we incorporated Grey as the primary color as that the room which receives most of the daylight through-out the day. The  space planning of walk in-closet  in the bedroom is so sophisticated carved out that blends with the aesthetics and functionality of the bedroom and makes it look appealing.

[DESIGN BRIEF]

It is interesting to note the lack of handles on the cupboards -- they are all inbuilt in the shutters. The only two requirements that the client wanted to be included were -- space for a temple unlike the traditional ones and to place the jhula for the client's use. Both of these have been beautifully incorporated in the design scheme. The three racks in the living room serve a specific purpose. The central rack with the rattan finish on the shutter, is the temple. The other two are home to lovely Swarovski crystals. The jhula has been placed in the master balcony, since the owner uses that space the maximum. To create a vastu compliant home out of a bare shell needs a lot of detailing and planning. And in this home space planning became smart planning as each zone had to be designated the right place and area for it to be the perfect home for the family
